PC was founded in 1880 by the Rev. William Plumer Jacobs in the historic city of Clinton in the foothills of South Carolina. The college offers a wide variety of undergraduate majors and has established three graduate programs in occupational therapy, physician assistant, and pharmacy. PC student-athletes — the Blue Hose — participate in 19 sports at the Division I level.

Presbyterian College students' research published in biology journal
Two Rock Hill, S.C., undergraduates at Presbyterian College had their work on cancer research published in microPublication Biology. Senior Charlotte McGuinness and sophomore Margaret Leonard have been working with PC biology professor Dr. Austin Shull on research comparing nicotine receptors on head and neck cancer patients between previous and current tobacco smokers.
